Supertoon International Animation & Comics Festival

The Supertoon International Animation & Comics Festival presents the latest national and international production of short animated films, and from 2021, also authorial comics.
Held every year in July, it screens around 200 films in four competition categories:
- Grandtoon (professional animated shorts),
- Studentoon (student animated shorts),
- Planktoon (short films for children) and
- Supertune (animated music videos).
Through a series of accompanying programs that include VR screenings, thematic and retrospective programs, panels, interviews with authors, exhibitions, animation workshops for children and young people, it presents the art of animation in the broadest sense. From 2021, Supertoon includes comics in its official competitions, in two categories: comic album and comic magazine, as well as a series of events dedicated to comics, such as exhibitions, forums and workshops, and in 2022 the festival added a third competition category, comic fanzine.
The festival hosts filmmakers and comic artists from all over the world and creates a space for communication between professional authors, production companies, students of fine arts, animation and new media, and journalists in the field of arts and culture, giving them the opportunity to gather, exchange ideas and experiences. Screenings are held in open-air cinemas on Šibenik streets and squares, as well as in Đardin, the Šibenik city park, which also hosts talks with film and comic book authors, festival guests, and a big comics fair. Entry to all programs is free.
